About Kissy Coakley
Kissy Coakley has served as a change agent and leader throughout her career. She is currently the owner/operator of a small nonprofit, Kissy’s Stay Put Services, which assists victims of domestic violence who have been criminally charged. She is a small business owner and the CEO of Kissy’s Kitchen catering. In addition to serving on the city council, Kissy sits on multiple task forces for the League of Minnesota Cities including: Improving Local Economies, Metro Cities Leagues Transportation, and the Housing Task Force.
Formerly, Kissy worked as a domestic violence advocate at a local nonprofit organization, and served on the Multi-Cultural Committee for the City of Hopkins. Kissy also served on the Homelessness Committee for the City of Minnetonka.
Kissy is a passionate believer in the potential of Minnetonka to navigate its challenges and thrive. She has two adult children who graduated from Minnetonka High School. Her youngest child is currently attending Hopkins High School. She has lived in Ward 4 of the City of Minnetonka since 2008.
Kissy graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Criminal Justice. She has consistently advocated for positive reforms to the criminal justice system that rehabilitate people to productive lives. She has worked on this issue through involvement with the Second Chance Coalition, and as a leader in TakeAction MN’s Justice 4 All Campaign, where she helped champion a national movement that worked with Target Corporation to change hiring policies and make criminal background checks more fair. Kissy has also worked on legislation in the state of Minnesota for several criminal justice reform initiatives. She has served on the Minnetonka City Council representing Ward 4 since 2020.
